I said I was going to work on sketches yesterday, and this was result. This is Yoshikawa, after a storm (btw, the way his hair usually is is natural). It was inspired by my sitting outside in the middle of a heavy rain storm for about 10-20 mins, randomly staring up at the sky . I think the scanner butchered it, and I can't fix it here right now...
Some suggestions; His eyes and eye brows look a little crooked (perhaps you should use a skeletal system for the face) And one ear looks larger than the other (maybe try to make them exact same size, also with the help of a skeletal system) And one of the shoulders may be a little bit longer than the other. Ooh! And also, make the hair strands smaller and make more of them (to really make it look like his hair is wet). One more suggestion for this piece; have you ever tried making a bottom lip? I think that would really give your people's mouths some dimension.
I actually do use a skeleton, but I can never get a perfectly straight line, even with a ruler. The shoulder thing comes up really often, too - I could never figure out a system for that beyond just looking. I have before, but I never really got much from it - I think the lips just look awkward the way I draw them, so I tend to leave them out. I could try it, though . Thanks again !

Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
